Stand Up Paddling has exploded in popularity over the last few years, and it's huge here in Colorado. Veteran river rats are rediscovering the adventure of Class I-III rivers that may not pose much of a challenge while sitting down, but when standing up they present a whole new set of challenges and adventure.
For the first time at America's Oldest & Boldest Whitewater Festival FIBArk will host three SUP events: Freestyle, Sprint, and Downriver. The Freestyle SUP event will offer contestants an opportunity to express his or her creative side and wow the crowd. The Sprint will be wildly entertaining as racers paddle head to head through the Salida white water park to the roar of thousands of fans. The Downriver race is the historic backbone of FIBArk, and this is the first year we will offer a dedicated SUP category; 10 miles.
